Nandpur Camp, Samba | 12 October 2026
As part of the *Udhyam Jagrati* initiative, the Zila Sainik Welfare Department, Samba, organised an Ex-Servicemen (ESM) Rally at Nandpur Camp on 12 October 2026, with a focus on empowering Ex-Servicemen (ESM), Veer Naris, widows and their dependents through entrepreneurship, self-employment and sustainable livelihood opportunities.
The rally was attended by the team of Zila Sainik Welfare Office (ZSWO), Samba, along with the Assistant Director, Employment, Samba District, and his team. The event aimed to familiarise the veteran community with various schemes and opportunities available under **Mission YUVA (MSN YUVA)** and encourage them to explore entrepreneurship as a viable and rewarding second career.
The initiative emphasised a shift in mindset—from seeking employment to creating employment opportunities for others. Drawing upon the discipline, leadership, organisational skills and commitment acquired during military service, Ex-Servicemen were encouraged to channel their experience into setting up enterprises, developing sustainable sources of income and becoming job creators within their communities.
Special emphasis was laid on ensuring that Veer Naris, widows and dependents of Ex-Servicemen are equally aware of the opportunities available to them, enabling families to explore self-employment and entrepreneurial ventures with confidence.
The interaction also provided an opportunity for participants to understand the available support mechanisms and engage with the concerned teams for guidance on potential livelihood avenues.
The rally reflects the commitment of the Zila Sainik Welfare Department, Samba, towards extending welfare beyond conventional assistance by connecting the veteran community with opportunities for economic empowerment, financial independence and meaningful participation in the region’s development.
The message was clear: Military service builds leaders. Entrepreneurship can turn those leaders into job creators.
